1 month to go!

Heyyyy everyone :) hope everyone is well! I'm sad but! I had a burst of happiness this morning! 3 weeks ago my mom sent me a package with shoes, clothes, clif bars and other goodies. I kept going to the post office to see if it arrived, but every time it hadn't. I thought it might have been stolen. Well yesterday I went and it was there!! But I had to wait till this morning to get it. But it's here! Yay! I was so happy:)
So what news? There is a couple from Miami that will living here for a year or two. I really like them :) this morning the brother that drove us to the post office is from Canada. I got the chance to ask him questions about his journey to Burundi. Well, him and his wife are in their 50s. They served as special pioneers in Canada. Then they got invited to serve at missionary status in west Africa. He said his wife had to really think about it. But they decided to. They lived in a house with 12 other missionaries. Needless to say it was never boring! They thought after a year they were ready to go home, but they decided to stick it out and stay maybe 3 yrs. Then 5 yrs came... Then 12 yrs! But then they were asked to serve at bethel here in Burundi. They have been here for 3 yrs. he said they never regretted having stored all their treasures in heaven... Because they have none on earth lol. I told him they are a wonderful example for people like me. The self-sacrificing spirit they display is wonderful. He was so humble too. He said nooooo! We have done nothing! We are not special! But of course I disagreed :) he is such a sweet brother! Very ADHD... Lol.

The preaching here really is wonderful. The brothers and sisters here are sooo stinkin zealous! I'm learning a lot from them. It's crazy to see people walk up to them and ask... Ask! For some literature! And it happens more than once in a day. Sometimes if they are preaching on the street they will have a crowd of people around them listening and wanting their own magazines to read. America is so different...

My 2 studies are still good. Still very regular :) I will miss teaching someone when I come home... But maybe Jehovah is just training me for that one deaf study I might have when I get home ;) hehe

Some sad news, due to Jen's family situation Stacey has decided to postpone her arrival. Hopefully she will come soon:) it just means she's a very loyal bestie :)

Well I miss everyone and can't wait to see you all in a month. Oh! Also my flight home was cancelled... So I will probably be arriving home 2 days earlier. But I will definitely miss the brothers and sisters here very much! Especially brother and sister Leonard and nancy Ellis. They have truly taken me under their wings. They have been absolutely wonderful. Can't thank Jehovah enough for those 2.

Well I think I talked enough :) love you all!

Hi hi hi! I know it's been forever since I posted... Sometimes I get lazy and don't feel like typing hehe. But anyway I hope everyone is well :) I am:)
So, my one study has been consistent and regular :) she seems to enjoy what she's learning even tho she's very busy at home and has lots to do. But she puts that all on pause for us!
The other study with the sickly son... Hopefully tomorrow she will have her study since her son is now doing better :)
As for the other woman that missed our appt.... She has continually missed every week.
Today a sister, myself, and a brother went on a study. This is the sisters first deaf study and it's with a girl whose parents are opposed... But they weren't home today :) I went very well.
Wilson's: I saw the boy one more time at the bus station, other than that I guess he's ok... But he was so cute! I just wanted to take him home!
So right now we have a bethelite couple staying with us for the weekend. They gave up they're room for another couple. We're having the Zone meeting this weekend so there's many visitors staying at bethel. But that brings the number of occupants in the house to a grand total of 8! I'm feeling a bit cramped... But it's only for a short time. And the other German couple will leave on Sunday so it will be much better after this weekend! Lol.
Well I'm sleepy and ready to go beddy bye.... Although my roomie is rite next to me skyping... Hmmm, I might cut somebody! Just kidding... :) lol.
Hope everyone has a great weekend! I heard it was supposed to be warm today, enjoy!
Love you all, chat:)

Hi everyone! Sorry it's been a while... Busy. And stomach issues all gone :))) so happy! Lol.
So not too much to tell you guys. It's entering the rainy season here and mostly in the afternoon/evening it rains buckets on and off... Which is very annoying here because the roads are mostly dirt roads... So you Know what happens when u mix dirt and water, MUD! Mud all over the place and everything! Lol. I was walking by myself somewhere and it had just finished pouring something fierce, I was walking along a now muddy pathway... Well there was a puddle full of water and then a slippery slope around it that people were taking. So I figured i follow them... Instead I slipped down the slope into the puddle of muddy water.... My entire right side was covered in mud. The people around me stopped and looked and said, "aww mazoongo!(white)" I was so embarrassed I walked all the way back home looking at the ground and not anyone else. Lol.
I just got in from having a study. It went well. The people I was with were great supporters. My one study this week didn't show because her son was sickly... Fever and throwing up, eew. I also set up to have a study with another woman after meeting on Sunday. So far both of us have missed our appt to meet up. Let's hope this time it works out.
Linnie pooh! So nice to hear from you!! And libba! Hi! Wave to Corey for me lol. And mama Cindy so glad to hear that about Tess :) sad I missed it tho :( but I'm sure she did fantastic. Send the family my love please!
Well I hope everyone is well! Love you all and love hearing from you all! Miss you ALL more than you guys know!

Almost 3 weeks! And I'm still kicking ;)

Hi everyone :) hope everyone is well! Cuz I'm not... Stomach issues... Hehe.
Anyway... One day when I was out preaching, a brother told me he had a study that he was going to give to me while I'm here. He said we will meet up and he will introduce us and then leave. So we did, got to meet the study as well as 2 other deaf woman. The one was from Congo and was oh so very close to getting baptized then quit. But the brother introduced us then left me and the other sister to talk with them. Then the one from Congo looks at my bag and says "so, what do you have to teach me today?" I asked her if she wanted a study right now... "Yes!" She said! So we did! I popped in the listen to God DVD and all 3 woman sat down and watched the first chapter, and we talked about it. Finished, I thought. "no keep going!" says the other deaf woman, "I love watching and talking about the Bible!" So we kept going. Watched and talked about chapter 2. "more!" she said again. Ok! But then another woman came and said "I don't want JWs to study here. If you study go somewhere else!" so the other sister and I decided to respect her and leave. But still! Really great day! Setup to have the bible study for Wednesday morning!
I was supposed to have a bible study today but because my tummy isn't agreeing with me I had to cancel :( but next week you will hear all about the study for next week!
That brings a total of 3 bible studies in 3 weeks! Still tasting and still seeing ;-)
It was nice to hear from you 3 wingards :) so sorry we couldn't get together before I left :( and white mama I hope your doing better! And wilsons, the sound is a bird... They have weird and annoying sounding birds here. Every morning at 4:30 a rooster crows... And I swear it's like right outside our window... So annoying lol. And don't worry, I'm staying CLEAR of all the animals ;) and I feel really stupid for asking this, but who is D??!! I know bunches of people whose names start with D... Lol.
Whelp I think that's all the exciting news that I gots :)
Love you and miss you all So so so so so much!
Bye until next time!

"taste Jehovah and see that he's good" II

I say the same title part II because I'm still tasting and still seeing :)
So! Yesterday a brother informed me and another sister of a deaf woman that works at a salon and we decided to go meet her. Well we met her and on Sunday we will have her first bible study! We'll study the bible teach with her. So that makes 2 bible studies and it's only been 2 weeks! Like I said I'm still tasting and still seeing :)
Also that morning I met the deaf woman, I went on a kirundi bible study (hearing), even tho I didn't understand one word it was still very interesting and cool. The one seems to really ask questions and really wants to know.
It's so sad to see how hard people work here just for some food at least once a day. Burundians are really hard working people. We are so lazy and spoiled and we have everything, while they have nothing. Yet they are still amazingly friendly and generous. But I don't think the people here really understand just how poor they are... Even the brothers and sisters don't stop preaching to eat lunch. They literally go from 9 am - 5 pm without eating... Needless to say by the end of the day, I'm STARVING lol.

So on a different note, this morning our household went hippo sighting! We walked around the national park for 3 hrs. We saw some hippos in the water a good bit of a ways. Camera does it no justice. But! After that we went to breakfast right on the edge of the lake and we saw hippos so close and clear!! They're HUGE!! Lol. It was really beautiful tho :) and breakfast was yummy. It was a fancy restaraunt and I got an omelette and toast and coffee and juice and free fruit(mmm mangos) all for like $3.50.... The bus ride is like 30 cents.... I can get a huge bottle of water for less than a dollar. The regular sized water bottles are less than 50 cents... Craziness. I'm not worried about running out of money! Ha!
Whelp can't think of anything else to tell you all! Have a great day! Miss you all :)

"taste Jehovah and see that he's good"

Hey everyone! I know it's been a while but like mom said I didn't have Internet for a while, and then when I finally got some I forgot my password to my blog.... And I just now reset it lol. I hope everyone is well :)
So! We moved into the new place that we will be staying for the rest of the time we are here. I have hot water and a regular toilet!!! Yay! We share it with two German couples that are really cool.
Yesterday afternoon I went with a brother to a girl that he studies with. But! She is now my study while I'm here! I will be finishing the listen to God DVD with her. The deaf here don't really use asl... They only know some if they went to school. Many of them use home signs which the brothers and sisters here understand, but I don't lol. But this deaf girl so far is the only one I've seen use the most asl. So the listen to God DVD should make it better for me then :)
There are 3 asl groups here. I'm at the most advanced one. One sister, a special pioneer, in our group went to another area to help start a group that is now there. She is only 21 and had 12 bible studies while she was there!! Now one of the elders in our group will be going there to help teach asl. He is also a special pioneer. The brothers and sisters here really know their DVD publications. But if you think about it they really don't have much to watch on their DVD players unlike us.
I still have yet to go shopping here.... I think the couple that we are renting from will show me what to do since we are all white lol. My roommate thinks if I go with her they will jack the prices up because I'm white. Which is true. Lol.
Well I shall post another blog sometime later! Love you all and miss you!!

Day 1

Hi everyone! I made it safe as mama said :) just got finished talking to a missionary couple that have been here for 7 years! They're cool. He's from Louisiana and she is from montreal. I went preaching this morning.... Very interesting! I met 3 deaf! The brother I was with had a bible study with a boy who we think is 12... Even tho the little stinker told me 17... Yea right lol. The brother was trying to teach the point of the signs before the end... He wasn't quite getting it... But other wise it was a good morning.
The brothers and sisters here r sooooo friendly! Lots of them speak English... Very helpful:)
Preaching here is soo different... A huge culture shock! Everything is different (obviously) the kh is about a half hour walk and it's through, the poorest part of what I've only seen so far. Heart breaking. The 12 year old study I mentioned has no home. He fled his home town and will sometimes sleep at other peoples homes. 12!!!! Crazy...
I miss home a lot right now. And I miss everyone so so so much! Thanks all for ur amazing support. I love my big family :)
Also I can't take too many pics for fear of my camera being stolen... So the pic I will post is outside my window here at the branch. If I can figure how to post it.... Lol
Bye until next time!
