Day 1

Hi everyone! I made it safe as mama said :) just got finished talking to a missionary couple that have been here for 7 years! They're cool. He's from Louisiana and she is from montreal. I went preaching this morning.... Very interesting! I met 3 deaf! The brother I was with had a bible study with a boy who we think is 12... Even tho the little stinker told me 17... Yea right lol. The brother was trying to teach the point of the signs before the end... He wasn't quite getting it... But other wise it was a good morning.
The brothers and sisters here r sooooo friendly! Lots of them speak English... Very helpful:)
Preaching here is soo different... A huge culture shock! Everything is different (obviously) the kh is about a half hour walk and it's through, the poorest part of what I've only seen so far. Heart breaking. The 12 year old study I mentioned has no home. He fled his home town and will sometimes sleep at other peoples homes. 12!!!! Crazy...
I miss home a lot right now. And I miss everyone so so so much! Thanks all for ur amazing support. I love my big family :)
Also I can't take too many pics for fear of my camera being stolen... So the pic I will post is outside my window here at the branch. If I can figure how to post it.... Lol
Bye until next time!

  2. What a cute blog Chat!!!

So glad you made it safely and I look forward to hearing about all your adventures. Already a tear-jerking experience so far( a 12-year-old homeless bible study??) It's like I'm reading the yearbook. (I've been crying through most of Norway so far. So embarrassing when you take public transportation) Oh well its a wonderful organization we belong too.

    Enjoy!

    Be safe:)

  4. After reading the article about the Gilead grad in the Feb Watchtower I took out my own notes on the program and one point in particular made me think of you (and really all those in a foreign assignment).

Brother Splane talked about how we are like the earthen vessel talked about at 2 Cor 4:7. Just like an earthen vessel that has a tough outer glazing to prevent chips and cracks you will discover that you have the same. You'll find out that you are tougher then you ever thought! Jehovah has entrusted this ministry, not to the angels, but to us lowly "earthen vessels". He has confidence that you will succeed and will give you whatever support you need to do so!

  7. I think she is having Internet problems at the branch. The Internet has been on and off or really slow for the past few days. Hopefully she will be able to update the blog soon. She is well. Already sunburned and is known by the locals as the "white woman" lol.
